January 5th

Sorry I was unable to post over the weekend. Things went well, but it is hard to eat healthy when the only food left in your house is pasta. I was able to go shopping and have planned out some nice healthy meals.
For these next two days:
My food goal is to follow the Atkins diet. I have previously done this diet and had great success for the first two weeks. Then like always I faded away from it. This diet is stick and hard to follow. I love that they supply nice recipes and for two days I think this diet will be a since to follow.
My exercise goal is to join a gym! I am so excited about this one.
My personal goal is to study the scriptures and find a time during the day where I can do this. I am in need of some spiritual nourishment.

Day 1

My first food goal is to calorie count. I love using the website myfitnesspal.com. It is easy to track your food, water and exercise and you can even get and give motivation from others using the site.

My exercise goal is to do yoga videos both days. I usually find these on youtube or on my Samsung smart tv exercise app.

My personal goal is to have a at home spa day. This means I will give myself a facial, mani, pedi and just pamper myself. I love when I can give myself me time, since it hardly happens. It rejuvenates my body and gets me pumped up to treat myself right.

Here is to my first day and to feeling wonderful again!

The two day diet

Growing up I never realized that I was thin. I wasn’t small like the other girls in my class, but I was by no means large. I look back at pictures and think, “ Why was I ever hard on myself? You were the same size as half those girls and you were beautiful.” Size does not matter. I am coming to realize that on this journey to be healthy.

After high school I was not as active, but I didn’t gain more than 5 pounds. I always had love handles I was dying to get rid of, but I was happy and healthy. I married my husband in 2005 and the next three years slowly put on 30 pounds. We had our daughter in 2009. I lost 5 pounds in the beginning of the pregnancy and then only gained 16 back. I was happy with that. Once she was born and I became a stay at home mom though the weight didn’t go away as planned and I even gained some back. I leveled off 15 pounds heavier than before I was pregnant.

I tried so many diets but could never stick with anything. The first 2 days were always great. I could stick with my plan and I felt wonderful. Then by day 3 I would start cheating and it would only get worse from there. I have never made it longer than 2 weeks with any diet. It is my curse and I am determined to break through that barrier.

I became pregnant with my son fall of 2012. I continued with my tradition of loosing weight, but with my son, that is all I did. I lost a total of 20 pounds while pregnant with him and never gained an ounce! Awesome right!! I worked closely with my doctor since I wasn’t gaining weight. My body was healthy, my son was healthy, I was eating more than enough and was given a clean bill of health. My son continues to eat more than his weight in food each day! After we brought him home though, the weight did not stay off.  We moved twice in the 3 months surrounding his birth and I was diagnosed with post partum depression. After many doctor visits and medication, things are well, but the weight is back and some. I am now 40 pounds heavier than I was before my daughter was born.

Right now to be at a healthy weight and have a good BMI, I need to loose 80 pounds. Even as I right this I am making bad choices. I am sitting on the couch eating half a turkey sandwich and drinking root-beer. That root-beer will go straight to my rear! I have a dream to one day be healthy again. I don’t care what the scale says, because that does not determine health, I care what my body says because it deserves more than how I have been treating it. I am going to write this blog as I take my journey into this diet. And I will win.

How the 2 day diet will work

I can make it 2 days! I will plan for only 2 days. I will pick 3 goals to work on for those 2 days only.
The 1st goal will be my eating plan. This could be things like Weight Watchers, calorie counting, portion control and so on.
The 2nd goal will be exercise and determining what I will be working on.
The 3rd goal will be a personal goal. Such as less tv, scripture study improvement, writing in a journal.
Each week will go from Monday to Saturday with Sunday being my free day. Sunday night I will prepare for Monday and Tuesday. Tuesday night I will prepare for Wednesday and Thursday. Thursday night I will prepare for Friday and Saturday.
Each of those 2 day stretches will be changed. I have the flexibility to try new things and if I like them and they are working I can slowly work on them for longer.

As I am just starting out I know things may be confusing and take time to become smooth. I am excited to begin this journey and to document it here. It is January 1st, 2015 and this time next year I will be sitting here, typing on my computer, telling you that I have made my goals and given it my all!
Here is to 2015 and the two day diet!
